Sorey has a few powers that may affect your character, should you so choose! Please see below for details.


DOMAIN: Current Strength: Low

For characters with strong spiritual senses, they may notice that Sorey has a sort of purifying aura around him, in a bubble, anywhere from a twenty-foot radius to potentially miles. The air smells a little fresher, the water tastes a little better, the atmosphere feels safer; things like that. A domain with Low strength will only provide a sense of gentle peace and tranquility; a domain with Medium strength will feel more like a benign, clear, protective presence; a domain with High strength will feel close to that of a good-aligned demigod, benevolent and caring.

His domain strength is linked not only to his own strength, but to how many of the seraphim with whom he has formed pacts are present. Without any of them present his strength is low, with one or two his strength is more medium, and with all four his strength would be high. Other factors in Folkmore may alter this (for example, if he fully in his Legend form, his strength will temporarily be high).

RESONANCE:

Sorey has extremely sharp spiritual sense of his own; he can tell non-humans from humans even if the spriritual/fae-like/divine creature is in disguise. In particular, his spiritual sense is the empath type. He can sense weakness of heart, emotional turmoil and general negativity. If your character has any extreme trauma or conflicting feelings, he'll be able to see its intensity almost like a dark shroud around their person. 'Evil' might also manifest in this way, but not if the evil person is completely committed to their cause and convinced of its righteousness one hundred percent.

How bad/good/what-have-you is your character, and how much can Sorey sense? Lex is fine, he's a normal guy but he's always pushing back his traumas. I tend to narrate the relevant emotional specifics in brackets so feel free to use your best judgement as to how much / any of it applies to Sorey's Resonance. I'm good with any level of it both for nothing or for everything

The most immediate thing Sorey will probably pick up based on my read of this (though again use your own discretion) is that Lex's magic works through his spirit pacts with small (think the size of coins in terms of "physical" mass) elemental spirits he asks for power and uses. I bought them back with spoons, so though only people who are spiritually or magically attuned to them can sense and/or see them, he's always surrounded by a little less than eighty of them of various elements like water, air, fire, shadow, healing, earth, etc. Feel free to have him sense and/or see them depending on your interpretation.

But Sorey probably wouldn't notice anything extraordinarily malevolent about Lex, unless like. he'd killed someone and hid their body and felt HORRIBLE, LOSING SLEEP NIGHTLY about it. He'll probably just come off as very average in terms of a human who has had hurts happen to them and is muddling thru the best they can, so not overly so. I will keep an eye on those brackets!!!

Is your character non-human in a spiritual sense? Yes, Dan Heng typically keeps it under wraps in a guise. It is like someone wrapping towels around a glowing core. And in the depths of him is a vast cosmic dragon.
Can Sorey sense your character's spiritual state? Yes
How bad/good/what-have-you is your character, and how much can Sorey sense? Dan Heng is solidly on the side of good and can command powerful water abilities. With greater depth to it than he has made the choice to access. Sorey is free to sense it all.

Anything else? nothing I can think of. He is older than he looks for sure.

It hits me that Sorey likely sees past his guise too. He won’t be used to that at all.

If you're down with it then absolutely yes, he could! He'd see Dan Heng however you'd like him to appear in his most natural form.

If he looks particularly dragon-y Sorey might be a little wary/confused at first, since (most of the time) dragons are like. VERY BAD NEWS back home, but once he sees that Dan Heng doesn't mean any harm he'll chill out

Yeah, they’re a fallen spirit if I recall. Definitely up for it. Dan Heng is covered in a misty water like guise. And his dragon within him ie the power he bears probably might be weird anyway because noodle dragon. The sense of water will be really heavy from him.

His dragon is about the harmony of the universe and being part of the flow of life.

oh yeah sorey will be VERY respectful. he's not like. religious, but he also knows that humans never pay the respect due to very old, very powerful seraphim and he's gonna basically see dan heng as the equivalent of that

It’s gonna be really interesting. Dan Heng will offer up the dragon lore if asked. And see Sorey as pretty neat. He’s like his buddy Caelus capable of being a prism of all kinds of elements.

Is your character non-human in a spiritual sense? yep. Not COMPLETELY, just, you know, enough to make it obvious shenanigans are afoot. How DOES being half alien parasite virus register?
Can Sorey sense your character's spiritual state? sure, though I am not sure it's a good idea.
How bad/good/what-have-you is your character, and how much can Sorey sense? He's a good kid with a very odd moral compass. He doesn't have an eeeevil shroud but the relentless negativity and entire ongoing trauma parade I imagine is going to be ... Fairly obvious.

Anything else? this kids a train wreck but at least he has a steady supply of French fries, his true crippling weakness

actually i was wondering how the jenova part especially would show up. i mean he's going to be SEETHING with malevolence because of...yeah all of that, all of his shitty life and constantly being conflicted about how to proceed, not knowing his own heart, etc etc

but i don't know if jenova should be treated more as like, a purely scientific thing, or a legit DARKNESS/EVIL thing...hmmm

Until recently I'd say she shouldn't flag as evil, and she's just a natural disaster, hurricanes aren't evil, but EC has made it clear yes, she can think, and yes she's actively manipulatively malicious. Messed up a whole plot on me. e_e I guess.. it would then depend, on if Jenovas as a /species/ are all that way and thus it's an inherent part of their genetic code or if just SHE is.

edit: .. though given how sephiroth acts when he finally gives up being human, i'd wonder if it's inherent. spiders want to build webs, space disease viruses want to manipulate.

regardless if they meet up in person i can always just focus on the fact that this kid is SO conflicted and miserable without delving too deeply into the jenova stuff

Sephiroths are not good example of people who are utterly traumatized that DON'T turn into monsters, he just stays prettier than most monsters. :T

Is your character non-human in a spiritual sense? yes, Altair is a being of magic tied to a human soul. His human body is a physical vessel for his magic that has been crafted by his magic from his memories of when he was still human.
Can Sorey sense your character's spiritual state? yes!
How bad/good/what-have-you is your character, and how much can Sorey sense? Deep down Altair is good but his light is smothered by emotional turmoil, trauma, conflicted feelings about his magic, and the huge burden of carrying all the memories of the dead. While he is not evil, he will not hesitate to do evil things in order to protect those he cares about. His magic also has a more wild and otherworldly energy that doesn't understand morality and resonates with his raw emotions instead.

Anything else? Half of Altair's soul belongs to the Nameless goddess. While that side of him is dormant here, Sorey might still be able to sense the mark on Altair's soul where the goddess's soul bleeds into his, claiming him as hers after death. Altair's magic stems from the nameless goddess so the wild, otherworldly energy is much stronger on her side of the soul. The goddess's side might read more evil than Altair however it comes from a profound loneliness and a fierce protectiveness/obsession of anything that is hers so she believes her actions are right.

Since Altair's body is just straight up magic, he might look like a seraph to Sorey actually! Just one that is SOOOOOO drenched in malevolence LMAO. Not his fault his life sucks

He'll probably also see that Altair has a powerful pact attached to him, though without the goddess here Sorey might not be able to pick up on intentions or other things regarding how SHE feels, just how Altair feels

lol nice! I'm canonblind but that sounds fun! Altair prefers to let everyone think he's just a human with magical abilities, not a being made of magic so it will be fun having someone he can't hide that from. I'm excited to play with this!
