Long story short, I was consumed by this
dark energy
I guess you could call it, and I turned into something called a hellion. Had all my memories and pieces of my personality intact, but it was warped. I was me, but I wasn't.

So when I attacked Nightingale, it was very personal. And in the mind I was in, it felt justified and necessary. I knew what I was doing.

And I'm so sorry.

Malevolence. All humans generate it; usually brought on by conflicts of the heart, doubt, fear, hatred, things like that.

There's a lot of it on the Fleet. I thought people couldn't become hellions because it was behaving differently from home, but obviously I was wrong.
